What Happened in California Beginning January 1, 2018?

As many of you already know, California is certainly a place where Unconstitutional Laws flourish. Many of these Laws go unchallenged in Court and thus set a legal precedent for the rest of the Country to look upon and emulate if they so desire. Well, true to their anti-gun roots, many new laws went into effect on January 1, 2018. Let’s take a look at one of these Proposition 63 Mandates that are all in the name of "making us safer".

AMMUNITION SALES
Beginning on January 1, 2018, Proposition 63, ammunition sales must be conducted by or processed through licensed vendors and these “licenses” must be issued by the Department of Justice. If you do not have this license then you WILL NOT be able to lawfully sell ammunition.
California’s new law also says ammo must be locked up and customers cannot handle ammo unattended. If a customer wants to buy ammo only an employee with a certificate of eligibility from the Department of Justice can handle the ammo. Now, we need to look at the verbiage here too. With my twelve years in law enforcement and dealing with the federal courts, I can tell you that “Words have MEANING”, sometimes more that you can understand. The verbiage in Proposition 63 uses the word “transfer” when it discusses ammunition transactions. As it is written it is extremely vague. This being the case, it could mean that you could be found guilty of a crime if you possess ammunition that your son or daughter from another state brings to you or ships to you as a gift, without going through a state licensed vendor. The "death by a thousand cuts" will continue as this is merely a foundation laid that will be used to severely limit ammunition sales and purchases in the future. Stay informed and please stay vigilant.
