There is a serious problem in the Chillicothe, OH area.
In the past year, six women have disappeared, four of them have been found dead, and two are still missing.
In lieu of this situation, and the possibility of a serial killer amongst us, we would like to review what we consider the principles of self-defense.
1) Planning: Know the area you are traveling in and out of, plan and alter your routes, check traffic, check crime reports, bring proper personal self-defense equipment (i.e. firearm for CCW holders, mace, whistle, high powered flashlight, and or knife).
2) Reconnaissance: You can use maps, google earth, or physically drive the area you plan on visiting or jogging/moving through. Your ability to familiarize yourself to an area greatly helps your ability to identify areas of concern.
3) Security: Personal security is enhanced with an acute awareness of your surroundings. Be able to locate access routes, identify people and their actions, use of mirrors/windows to view angles without giving the appearance of looking, and keep your head out of your cell phone! If you feel an attack is imminent, BE LOUD. Use your whistle, mace, or nearest self-defense tool. Based on your comfort level, have on your person a lethal or non-lethal tool to fight off an attack. More importantly, know how to use them!!!! When driving do not get boxed in a corner. Never pull directly up to the car in front of you, always leave space to “get out”.
4) Control: Have systems of redundancy. For example most people keep their phones on them at all times. Make sure your battery is charged, and tell someone where you are going and check in with that person at pre-planned times. Give advice on actions to take if no call/check in is made.
5) Common Sense: Don’t be a soft target, be a hard one. Attackers are looking to control the situation immediately, so if you appear aware and capable of defending yourself, you improve your chances. Take a self-defense course and learn how to responsibly handle and train with a firearm.
These are not scare tactics, but a few basic principles that will help increase your protection if you apply them. The recognition that evil does exist, and that in order to maintain your freedom and personal security you must stay trained and educated on how to safe-guard you and your family.

Psychological Casualty?
I watched this and I believe that it needs to be shown.....not to belittle or degrade our troops, but to teach us a lesson. Folks, this is what you look like when you allow yourself to become a psychological casualty. These guys have allowed their minds to become so clouded with stress that they are functioning at a toddler level. This can happen to ANYONE that really pushes themselves in training.....as a matter of fact if any of us, including myself, aren't feeling at least some level of what these guys are feeling, then we're not pushing ourselves hard enough in our training. The objective is to push yourself out of your comfort zone, expose those weak points, work through it (NEVER GIVE UP), and come out a better, sharper, instrument. If you're not doing this, you'll never maximize your effectiveness.

One Shot to Stop the Threat? Not Always!
This is quite a sad story, but it goes to show you that MOVIES ARE FAKE! Just because someone is shot, does not mean that the threat they pose to you is stopped. Many people who engage you are so pumped up on adrenaline (or worse yet drugs) and they may not even feel the full extent of their injuries. Now, this goes both ways....if you are hit, you have to stay in the fight. Being shot DOES NOT equate death. A lot of people live after being shot....and a high percentage need to be shot more than once to be stopped. Remember that in your training.
