Phase Line Defense 2018
We just celebrated Christmas and we hope that you spent the quality time that you needed to spend with your family. It's always a wonderful Blessing to see the happiness and excitement on our childrens' faces as they open their presents. In 2018, Phase Line Defense had the pleasure of offering the very best training in Northeast Ohio to 275 students. Some students took extra responsibility for their own personal development and attended HEAT™ courses and some challenged themselves and learned a lot in our BREACH™ course in October. The Instructors at Phase Line Defense wholeheartedly believe in training and personal development and we do our best to instill this same mindset into our students. We believe in what we do and we believe in preparedness. Here is a snapshot of the training courses that PLD Instructors completed in 2018. In April, Instructor's James Banks and Christopher Kalina traveled to Kentucky and completed the two day Law Enforcement Low Vis Handgun Operations course through Alexander Global Strategies at the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport Police Firing Range. This course was designed for law enforcement officers who operate in plain clothes positions and thus all things taught were based upon principles of concealment. It was very revealing to work within realistic scenarios and we met some of the greatest people this industry has to offer. Also in April, Instructor's James Banks and Christopher Kalina completed the four day High Threat Vehicle Engagements Instructor for Law Enforcement Certification through the 88 Tactical Group at the Northern Ohio Tactical Training Center in Amherst, Ohio. This course revealed to me that everything that I knew about gunfighting, all of the principles of gunfighting are thrown out the window and changed when vehicles are introduced into the equation. This course changed definitions and certainly expanded understanding. It taught us about vehicle ballistics, the science of angles around vehicles, principles of maintaining the initiative, and how to develop training scenarios. It was an absolute training necessity. The first week of October, Instructor James Banks also completed the five day CQB Instructor course through the Alliance Police Training Facility. This course is designed for law enforcement personnel to learn the science of Close Quarters Battle and develop an understanding of the principles to teach SWAT personnel, build and develop your team, design training scenarios, and team cohesiveness. In April, Instructor Joe DiCaprio completed the HEAT Phase One course at Phase Line Defense. This was a one day course covering principles of how to fight with your handgun. This course also made you understand that not every situation will result in the use of deadly force. In July Joe earned the head archery technician job at his place of employment. He learned the ins and outs about working on bows and how to tune them up. This helped him in a lot of aspects to really make sure everything is timed up and tuned in to get the best performance out of your equipment. October was a big month for Joe as he earned his NRA Instructor certification. This allows him to teach CCW classes for Phase Line Defense. Also in October, Joe completed the BREACH Phase One course at Phase Line Defense. That was a one day course on battle rifle fundamentals. It strengthened his skills with the understanding of shooting and other rifle fundamentals. The course laid a strong foundation for Joe to build on. Joe trains a lot on his own and put thousands of rounds down range to perfect his craft and improve at every opportunity he is given. In August Instructor Chris Koszewski completed the five day Law Enforcement Protective Operations course through Alexander Global Strategies at the Alliance Police Training Facility. This course is designed to train and prepare law enforcement assigned to executive protection details to execute their duties in a professional manner. Students were taught intelligence gathering, surveillance and driving techniques, team movements and formations and customer service skills. In November, Instructor Chris Koszewski complete all of the required training and became a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. This two day course teaches Instructors how to teach pistol fundamentals, safety, pistol nomenclature and pistol diagnostics to basic students. As you can see, we take training very seriously. We are constantly building ourselves to offer you a better product. We hope to see you soon. James Banks |
